In response to the Pope’s call, Bishop O’Connell designates the Parish of Saint Mary as one of 13 pilgrim churches in the Diocese of Trenton.
At The Parish of Saint Mary, the two outside center doors to the church have been designated for this purpose. They were locked on Tuesday, December 8th and were re-opened Sunday, December 13th, Gaudete Sunday. The doors, as well as portions of the gathering space, are decorated appropriately and include the necessary informational signage, as well as the Coat of Arms of Pope Francis and Bishop David O’Connell. Visiting these sites and following the conditions outlined, offers the chance to receive a plenary indulgence.
This is the message proclaimed by Pope Francis in announcing the Extraordinary Jubilee Year of Mercy, echoed here in central New Jersey by Bishop David M. O’Connell, C.M. throughout the Diocese, parishes and communities will be celebrating the Holy Year of Mercy throughout the liturgical year.
