The Sacred Music Program & Music Ministry
Caritas Chorale – We welcome all those who wish to lift their voice in song to the Lord! This chorale is best suited for those in grades 2nd – 6th. Rehearsals are TDA. Anyone with a desire to sing & learn are welcome! Here, children learn some basic music theory and solid vocal techniques that will serve them well as they grow. The Chorale will sing at Mass for various Solemnities as well as other parish and Religious Education events.
Magnificat Choir – A truly wonderful & unique singing experience to all involved! Our Adult Choir offers a wide variety of Catholic repertoire, from choral anthems and motets to Taize and other contemporary settings of liturgical music. No musical knowledge required! Come as you are, ready to learn & sing! Continued music theory and solid voice pedagogy are offered throughout the evening's rehearsals Rehearsals areTBA evenings from 7:30pm – 9:00pm. This choir sings at about 40 Masses per year including all Solemnities & Feasts.
Marian Handbell Choir – From Mass parts to meditation pieces, bells add beauty to any liturgy! This group is open to musicians with some basic musical knowledge. We meet weekly to rehearse 6:00pm - 7:30pm TBA and "ring" on Solemnities & Feasts and other weekend Masses, often with the Magnificat Choir.
Schola Cantorum - This choir is geared for those who want to learn more about our Catholic traditions and music. Here we will study not only good vocal techniques, but the chants and anthems of the early church that have stood the test of time and are a part of the Church's rich treasury of sung prayer. CANTORING PROGRAM: The cantor is the leader of sung worship. Taken from our Jewish brothers & sisters, the cantor leads the congregation in a variety of prayers, psalms, & common responses set to music. Cantor training is offered weekly, and continued cantor training is offered seasonally. Strong vocal, musical, and leadership skills are required.
